BUTTERWORTH: A car driving against traffic on Jalan Perusahaan here caused a four-vehicle pile-up involving three cars and a motorcycle on Sunday (Feb 14) evening.
Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad said that the accident occurred at 6.20pm at the interchange of Jalan Perusahaan in Prai.
“Preliminary investigation shows that a car driven by a 31-year-old woman was driving against traffic on Jalan Perusahaan.
“The accident occurred when she hit a motorcycle and crashed into two cars that came from the opposite direction at North-South Highway,” he said in a statement on Monday (Feb 15).
ACP Shafee said police were alerted to the incident at about 6.30pm from the public and when the police arrived at the scene, the victims including the woman were sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment.
ACP Shafee said a 31-year-old motorcyclist sustained leg injuries, while a 26-year-old man who drove one of the cars suffered chest pain.
“The woman who drove against traffic suffered wounds to her leg while another driver, a 29-year-old man did not have any injuries from the incident,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.- The Star
