PETALING JAYA: Rescuers have found the body of another victim who was among 10 people washed away while picnicking at the Air Putih waterfall in Kemaman, Terengganu on Sunday (June 2).
Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department Zone 2 head Azman Alias said villagers found the body at about 7.45am on Tuesday (July 4).
“The body was found about 12km from the location of the incident.
“It was retrieved from the river at about 8.15am and taken to the Air Putih Polis SAR Operation Control Centre,” he said.
However, the identity of the victim, believed to be a woman and found behind Masjid Dadong, has yet to be confirmed by authorities until identification by the next of kin.
The search and rescue operation entered the third day for the four missing victims.
It is unclear which one of the remaining victims was found.
Those still missing are Putri Balqis Izzati Abdul Rahman, 18; Putri Alleya Maisarah Karim, 16; Putri Nor Fatin Karim, 14; and Muhammad Fikri Saliman, 24.
On Sunday, 10 people, nine of them from a family from Felda Lepar Hilir, Pahang, were picnicking at the waterfall before being swept away by a water surge.
As of Monday, six victims had been found.
