The US embassy in Kuala Lumpur has worked with more than 30 members of the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Amcham), especially those from the electronic industry such as Intel and Micron to address various needs.

US ambassador Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir said through the My Amcham Cares programme, US companies had made financial contributions as well as donations of critical medical supplies, masks, hand sanitiser, computers and personal protective equipment.

“So far, through the My Amcham Cares programme, US firms have made donations in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Kedah, Perak, Sabah and Selangor.

“At the federal level, they have provided donations to the international trade and industry ministry and the Royal Malaysian Customs,” she said in a statement.

Amcham Malaysia CEO Siobhan Das said he was impressed by the generosity of the members, who are already committed to other corporate social responsibilities.

“When Malaysia needs them most, they show that their generosity knows virtually no bounds,” he said.
