PUTRAJAYA, 8 Jan 2021 (The Capital Post)- Seeing the fragility of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad advised Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to resign.
Speaking to the media today, Dr Mahathir stressed that Muhyiddin should take such action if he feels his leadership is not strong in terms of support.
“I have given advice many times ( to Muhyiddin) but the hard part is we give advice, they do not want to hear. That is the problem.
“The best advice, you do not seem so strong, resign,” he said in a press conference at Yayasan Kepimpinan Perdana, here on Thursday.
Commenting on the crisis between UMNO and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), the Langkawi Member of Parliament said he had expected the matter when the two parties wanted to merge.
“I told Muhyiddin, you will face problems because you are a small party, they are big and they have many seats.
“If they withdraw support, it will be over but he said he can handle the problem. So let’s see how he wants to manage, “said Dr Mahathir.-The Capital Post
