PETALING JAYA: As the intensive care units (ICUs) at hospitals nationwide reach 83% capacity, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has advised Malaysians to stay at home.
“The country’s health system is facing immense pressure and we need your help to break the Covid-19 infection chain,” he said in a Facebook post this morning.
He urged Malaysians to carry out a self-imposed lockdown in view of record-breaking daily cases and deaths.
Yesterday, he announced record high 6,806 new infections and 59 deaths.
“If there is important business outside, make sure you comply with the SOPs,” he said.
Noor Hisham also called on employers to allow their staff to work from home to limit the number of workers in the office.-FMT
