KLANG: The Selangor DAP’s candidates list is on its final leg before it is endorsed by the party’s top leadership.

A party source said changes have been made to the incumbent line-up with some of the candidates either being transferred out or replaced.

“Both Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah and Banting rep Lau Weng San may be sent to other constituencies or dropped,’’ said the source.

She added both Ean Yong and Lau had offered to go to Sungai Pelek as its incumbent Ronnie Liu had quit the party.

Both of them have completed three terms and are on their way into the fourth term.

Apparently, the Seri Kembangan seat is slated to go to a young candidate who is an assistant to a Selangor DAP incumbent assemblyman.

The party source also said the DAP leaders had someone else in mind to contest in the Bukit Gasing constituency which had been helmed for two terms by Rajiv Rishyakaran.

“It is going to go to a ‘heavyweight’ of sorts who is doing a lot of work on the ground,’’ added the source.

It is not known if Rajiv will be moved to another seat or dropped.

Kuala Kubu Baru may also see a new candidate as its incumbent Lee Kee Hiong is unsure if she wants to defend her seat.

Lee was recently ill but has since recovered.

The source also said that all the young assemblymen linked to former Selangor DAP dynamo Tony Pua are safe in their respective incumbencies.

The party insider added that even though Pua’s public presence in Selangor DAP may not appear as dazzling as it used to be, he still wielded a lot of influence to ensure “his people remained safe”.
