KOTA BHARU, Nov 25 — The number of flood victims at the two relief centres in Kuala Krai increased to 14 people, involving three families this morning, from only six people (two families) yesterday.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s InfoBencana, a relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Banggol Guchil was opened to accommodate the additional flood victims.
There are currently eight flood victims being accommodated at the centre, with the remaining six victims, including a baby girl, at the relief centre at Masjid Lama Keroh, Kuala Krai.
According to infobanjir.water.gov.my, as at 8 am today, the water level in Sungai Kelantan at the flood measuring points in Kuala Krai, Kusial Baru and Kusial, both in Tanah Merah, has exceeded the alert level, though in Kuala Krai, it is reported to be receding.
The water level in Sungai Golok, in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, has also risen above the alert level.
The weather in Kelantan this morning is cloudy with occasional drizzle.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued an orange weather warning with continuous heavy rain in three states in the east coast of the peninsula until Friday involving five areas in Kelantan, namely Kota Bharu, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai, apart from Terengganu and Kuantan, Pahang. – BERNAMA
