PUTRAJAYA: The second round of the AstraZeneca opt-in vaccine programme will be opened to those under the age of 60 at noon on Wednesday (May 26), says Khairy Jamaluddin .
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said the vaccines will be administered at PPVs (vaccine centres) in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor and Sarawak.
The second round of the AZ programme is currently open only to those 60 and above since Sunday (May 23).
Khairy said so far, only 228,347 out of the 1.2 million slots available have been snapped up.
This announcement dispels speculation on social media that the AZ vaccine will be offered to those younger than 60 a day earlier than the originally scheduled date of May 26 due to the supposedly low number of senior citizens signing up for the programme.-The Star
