KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid KL will resume full operations tomorrow, which will also see the end of social distancing measures on trains and at stations, said Rapid Rail chief executive officer Abdul Hadi Amran.

The move comes after the Transport Ministry issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all rail services, with the exception of the ETS and KTM intercity, to operate at 100 per cent capacity.
“Starting June 10, the Kelana Jaya, Ampang/Seri Petaling LRT lines and Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT lines will stop directives on social distancing on trains.
“Signage on social distancing on trains have been taken down,” he said in a statement here today.
Abdul Hadi said that Rapid KL will be able to cater to its 750,000 daily passengers, which was its regular pre-Movement Control Order (MCO) load.
During the MCO, the service was used by only 200,000 people daily.
However, he added that sanitisation work will continue as usual and affirmed that SOPs on health and safety are still in place.

He appealed to all commuters to discipline themselves by abiding by the new norm on the use of public transport to ensure that the Covid-19 spread is effectively curbed.
Procedures still in place include temperature screening for all workers and passengers – those with temperatures above 37.5 degrees Celsius are barred from entering stations and would be advised to get checked immediately.
The wearing of face masks is now compulsory for all workers and passengers; while the use of hand sanitisers, cashless transactions, and the MySejahtera app are encouraged.
“We thank all our passengers for their cooperation and attentiveness. Let’s together inculcate this new norm so that we can go through the recovery phase of Covid-19 safely and successfully,” Abdul Hadi added.
