KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia underwent some profit-taking activity in morning trade ahead of the Hari Raya holiday ahead.
At 12.30pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI was down 5.72 points to 1,426.64.
The number of decliners in the market outweighed gainers 493 to 226. Trading volume was 1.83 billion shares valued at RM872.74mil.
Among the leading decliners on the market were consumer stocks including Nestle down RM1.10 to RM135, F&N dropping 44 sen to RM27.16 and Dutch Lady dropping 38 sen to RM26.12.
Most blue-chips on the FBM KLCI were also in the red, including bank stocks Maybank down one sen to RM8.69, Public Bank sliding two sen to RM3.96 and CIMB falling two sen to RM5.23.
PETRONAS Chemicals shed 14 sen to RM7.26, IHH dropped five sen to RM5.83 and CelcomDigi slid three sen to RM4.43.
In regional markets, major indices were mixed as the US corporate earnings season came in into full swing.
Japan’s Nikkei was down 0.4% to 28,555, South Korea’s Kospi rose 0.2% to 2,576 and China’s composite index dropped 0.2% to 3,386.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was down 0.5% to 20,549 and Australia’s ASX200 was flat at 7,360. – The Star
