KUALA LUMPUR: Federal police will summon the landowners where 47 illegal e-waste processing plants were established for questioning.
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) director Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim said that based on intelligence gathered, these factories were set up on land that was either privately owned or designated as government reserved land.
“We will identify these landowners to aid further investigations. We need to establish whether they were aware of the activities taking place on their land,” he told the New Straits Times.
Regarding the possibility that these factories were financed by foreign entities, Azmi said further investigation was required to determine the identities of these individuals.
