He said this was because infections were now declining in terms of cases after they peaked recently. Covid-19 cases peaked between August and September with over 20,000 cases reported. The highest ever reported was on Aug 26 with 24,559 cases.

Via Twitter, Khairy shared images of the SEIR Model of Covid-19 daily Observed and Forecast cases between April 1 and Dec 31 this year.

“As we allow interstate travel to resume today, please remember this image. We are climbing down from the peak of disaster and despair.

“Let us make sure there is no more spike in cases. Mask up, observe SOP (standard operating procedures), practice TRIIS (Test, Report, Isolate, Inform and Seek),” he tweeted today.

The ban on interstate travel was lifted after the adult vaccination rate breached 90 per cent.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also announced that tourism activities were allowed to resume together with domestic travel and “balik kampung” journeys.-NST
