KEPALA BATAS: A school at the northern end of mainland Penang has been ordered to close until Oct 8 after one of the teachers tested positive for Covid-19.
The teacher’s spouse is a Kedahan politician, and she followed him to Sabah during the state election there.
State Education director Abdul Rashid Abdul Samad told reporters on Thursday (Oct 1) that all the pupils and staff of SK Permatang Janggus in Penaga were required to undergo Covid-19 screening.
He said the school would be closed for eight days, and any decision thereafter would be made after getting advice from the Health Ministry.
It has been learnt that the teacher, in her 40s, resides in Sungai Petani, Kedah, and became unwell shortly after returning from Sabah after polling day on Sept 26 and went to hospital where she tested positive. -The Star
