Besides the three women, eight other men, aged between 19 and 35, were also nabbed in the 11pm raid after police received complaints of loud noises from the 19th floor unit.

State Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rahimi Ra’ais said initial investigations revealed the unit was rented by two men and the three women. Two of the men and women were lovers.

“We raided the premises after receiving complaints of loud noises from the unit, and during checks, found they had just finished cutting the birthday cake and were partying with loud music.

“The birthday party was hosted by one of the men renting the unit to celebrate his 22-year-old girl friend’s birthday. He then contacted his seven friends to join,” he said today.

Further investigations revealed the two men who rented the unit had befriended the three Vietnamese women while visiting entertainment centres before they ended up as couples and moved in together.

Rahimi said the unit was rented for RM1,450 per month, and those detained were working in factories, pet-shops and in the frozen items industry.

No drugs were found inside the unit during the raid.

The 20 individuals, aged between 17 and 25, were all friends, and investigations revealed they were working in factories as well as in the food delivery industry.
