PUTRAJAYA: After a year of absence, the Ramadan bazaars could be back in Kuala Lumpur this April.

Traders interested in opening stalls are likely to be given the green light to operate but will have to follow strict standard operating procedures, federal territories minister Annuar Musa said today.
Annuar said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is presently reviewing the SOPs, including location of the bazaars, before submitting them to the National Security Council (MKN) for approval.
“Generally, MKN is ready to give permission and allow economic activities.

“In principle, we are making preparations to allow the Ramadan bazaar and Bazaria Aidlfitri.
“Just wait for the final approval from MKN, especially on the SOPs,” he said at a press conference here today.
Prior to Covid-19, the bazaars were held along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and side roads. Annuar said DBKL would also look for other suitable sites that will boost the income of traders.
He added they would also take into account suggestions on the locations to ensure traders are able to increase their profits during the fasting month, which starts in mid-April.-FMT
