PUTRAJAYA, January 2, 2020 (The Capital Post) – Ministry of Education today confirmed the resignation of its minister , YB Mazslee Malik in a emergency press conference held in Ministry of Education Malaysia this evening.
The Simpang Renggam MP in a press conference said that he had submitted his resignation letter to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir after a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Leadership Foundation this afternoon.
YB Maszlee Malik thanked all the officials of the Ministry of Education, the Director of State Education and the Department of Higher Education who have helped him since his appointment as Minister of Education after the 14th general election. He also expressed his congratulations to National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) for all the support.
Maszlee was infamous for controversies such as the enforcement of black shoes for primary school Implementation of Jawi Education in Vernacular Schools, the Elimination of Vernacular Schools as well as recent controversial exam question issue in one of the public university.
Tun Dr Mahathir is expected to announce a cabinet reshuffle in the near future and several Ministers and Deputy Ministers will be dropped due to their unsatisfactory performance – The Capital Post
