PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will announce another aid package at 5pm today, this time called “Pemulih”.
Based on the package’s name, Pemulih is aimed at economic recovery while protecting the people during the extended lockdown.
The latest package comes a day after his confirmation that the lockdown would continue.
Finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz hinted yesterday that withdrawals from the Employees Provident Fund and an automatic loan moratorium could be reintroduced.
Muhyiddin previously announced the RM40 billion Pemerkasa Plus package before the lockdown started on June 1, which involved some RM5 billion in direct fiscal injection.
However, various quarters said the package was too small to help those in need, particularly if the lockdown were to be further extended.
Yesterday, Muhyiddin said the lockdown, now called Phase 1 of the national recovery plan, would continue until daily Covid-19 cases drop to below 4,000.-FMT
