PETALING JAYA: A burst pipe will result in unscheduled water supply disruptions to parts of Klang, Shah Alam and Petaling later today.
In a statement this morning, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said the main pipe at Bulatan Persiaran Tengku Ampuan in Section 15, Shah Alam, had burst.
“To ensure that the repair work can be carried out smoothly, Air Selangor will have to shut down the water supply starting at 1pm.
“The shutdown will cause an unscheduled water disruption at 58 areas in the Klang/Shah Alam region and 72 areas in the Petaling region,” it said.
Repair work is estimated to finish by 9pm today, with water supply to be distributed to consumers upon completion as water supply recovery will vary from one area to another.
“Consumers are advised to store enough water before the water supply shutdown and to use water prudently during the unscheduled water disruption period,” said Air Selangor, adding that updates would be provided on all its communication channels.
The burst pipe follows a similar incident affecting water supply in Klang and Shah Alam on Dec 21. Twelve areas suffered unscheduled water cuts after the pipe burst at Jalan Seruling 59 in Taman Andalas, Klang.
Two similar incidents also occurred in September and October, causing water supply disruption to various locations in Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
Several areas in the Klang Valley had also suffered major water cuts during the year due to pollution in raw river water, causing treatment plants to be closed temporarily. – FMT
