State Health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the figure was recorded as of yesterday at several vaccination centres (PPV) in the state.

“The vaccination exercise for teenagers in the state continues today.

“This includes the outreach programme and also the scheduled walk-in exercise at few PPVs such as at the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Pengkalan Chepa which began today,” he added.

Dr Zaini said the walk-in PPV at MRSM would be opened to students aged 16 and 17 for several days.

“We target students from the college and at least four more nearby schools to be vaccinated,” he said.

Meanwhile, checks at the MRSM showed that more than 200 students have been vaccinated as of noon today.

More than 20 health staff and volunteers were on duty at the PPV.

The Health Ministry yesterday released a list of selected vaccination centres (PPV) for children, aged between 12 and 17.

There are 156 walk-in PPVs involved nationwide, which will start operation on Thursday for “scheduled walk-in”.

Daily school students have to wait for their respective schools to give their allocated dates for walk-in at these PPVs to avoid overcrowding.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin was reported to have said the government had approved all states to start their vaccination programme for the adolescent group, with a target of inoculating 3.2 million teenagers in Malaysia.

Fifteen of the 156 walk-in PPVs were set up in Kelantan and they include Dewan Sri Tunjong, Dewan Sri Remjuna and Dewan Felda Kemahang 1. -NST
