KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 252 homeless persons here are slated to get their Covid-19 vaccination next week.
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the vaccination process would be administered by the Federal Territories Ministry’s mobile vaccine unit.
Annuar said the group which was previously screened for the virus would receive their first dose of the vaccine in the Setiawangsa Community Centre on Tuesday.
Their vaccination followed the previous programme that saw 119 homeless persons in Anjung Kelana, Kuala Lumpur, getting their first shots last month, with the second dose to be given tomorrow.
“The homeless were given the vaccines early as they are always exposed to the virus,” he said in a statement here today.
Annuar also said the ministry had expanded the use if its mobile vaccine truck under Phase 2 of the government vaccination drive to areas that are difficult to access in the federal capital.
The truck would assist in administering the vaccines to residents in the area as well as reduce the risk of outbreaks in stages, he added.
He said that the government had set a target for 80 per cent of the population in the Federal Territories to be inoculated against Covid-19 in August.-NST
