The remains of 78-year-old Orang Asli, L Angah was found by the hospital staff. They notified his family members about 11pm yesterday.

The deceased was believed to have fallen off from the 10th floor of the hospital building and landed on the pipe on the sixth floor of the building.

His son-in-law Salhamzurie Hamzah, 39, said his father-in-law was sent to the Orang Asli Gombak Hospital on Feb 27 after vomiting from eating spicy food and feeling hot.

The hospital suspected him of being exposed to dengue and he was referred to Selayang Hospital for further treatment the same evening.

As of 3am, the senior citizen was placed at the emergency ward there while Salhamzurie returned home for a while.

“Once I came back, he was brought to the ward on the 10th floor and the hospital said he needed to be screened for Covid-19,” he said when contacted by Harian Metro.

The man was supposedly transferred to the normal ward on March 1 after testing negative for Covid-19, but went missing since noon that day.

“We looked for him all over the place in the hospital and neighbouring residential areas but we could not locate him.

“I was supposed to go Sungai Buloh Hospital, for fear that he was brought there because of some misunderstanding, only to be told that his remains was found last night,” he added.

The family is waiting to claim the remains after screening for Covid-19.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hafisham Mohd Noor said they received information from the hospital about 9.10pm yesterday.

Firemen from Selayang arrived minutes later to retrieve the remains.

“We handed over the body to the police for further action,” he said.-NST
