KLANG: Klang will soon become a city.

Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming announced this at an event organised by the Klang Municipal Council on Wednesday (July 26).

“The Cabinet has agreed to upgrade the status of Klang to that of a city,” said Nga.

The minister also announced various upgrading works that would be carried out and the funds allocated for them.

The 133-year-old town had met all the criteria needed to attain city status and its municipal council will be upgraded to a city hall before the year ends, he added.
