Malaysian rider Khairulamirin Yahaya suffered a horrific crash at the Spanish Supermoto championship over the weekend.

In the incident, which happened during the final practice session in Albaida, Khairulamirin broke his pelvis and suffered internal arterial bleeding.

He is expected to be sidelined for a few months.

The crash happened in the final practice session of the day as Khairulamirin pushed his bike hard for a fast lap time.

But he lost control of his bike and high-sided in a shocking crash.

The Spanish trackside medical team managed to stabilise and rush Khairulamirin to a hospital where he had an operation.

The Malaysian rider is now in a stable but serious condition, as he awaits another operation scheduled for Monday on his broken pelvis.

Following the crash, Khairulamirin will now miss the first round of the S4 European Supermoto championship at the end of the month.

Having shown speed and potential this year, the Supermotoland Husqvarna Junior Talent Team have decided to sign Khairulamirin for the first round of the European championship with fellow racer Loris Ford-Dunn.

Khairulamirin, however, is in good spirits despite his injuries.

He is focused on recovering for the final round of the S4 European championship in Italy in October.

The 19-year-old, who has been competing in the Spanish Supermoto for two years, was on track to further develop his racing career by competing in the European championship on June 27 at the Abruzzo Grand Prix in Ortona, Italy.-NST
