PUTRAJAYA: Any announcement on the extension of the movement control order in force since March 18 can only be made later, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“For now, I also do not know.”
“The Health Minister will advise the government if the MCO should be extended or lifted.”
“The government will announce it perhaps two or three days before it expires, just wait for it,” he said on Friday (May 8).
Ismail said this after he was asked if the MCO, which ends on May 12, would be extended.
On another matter, he said public transport vehicles and motorcycles could only make interstate journeys on the four days specified by authorities.
“If you went back to your kampung on a motorcycle and have been stranded since MCO was enforced … you need that motorcycle to make the journey, so we will allow it.
“But bear in mind, it is only during these four days.
“After that, any interstate travel will not be allowed unless in an emergency and with police permission,” he said.
Authorities have set May 7-10 for those stranded in hometowns to make the journey back to their respective homes.
Those from Perak, Johor and Kelantan are allowed to travel on Friday (May 8).
Ismail also said interstate travel for work would be allowed and employees must obtain a letter from their companies for this purpose.
