PUTRAJAYA: Those returning to Malaysia, including foreign diplomats, are advised to get themselves tested for Covid-19.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said doing a swab test before returning would prevent them from having to wait at the airport for results.
“We anticipate more Malaysians coming home now that more flights are available. So the waiting period is expected to be rather long if a swab test is done on arrival.
“That is why the alternative is to get tested before returning and bringing home the medical certificate to confirm that they are free of Covid-19, ” he said yesterday.
“They might also have to go to quarantine centres while waiting for results, ” he said, adding that the same procedure applied to foreign diplomats and Malaysia My Second Home participants.
He said while Malaysia’s border remained closed to anyone travelling in or out of the country during the recovery movement control order (MCO), exceptions were made for foreigners in the two categories.
“They can do a swab test before taking a flight back to Malaysia. Upon their return, they will have to present the letter to certify that they do not have the virus.
“They will also have to undergo 14 days’ mandatory quarantine at home, keep their wristbands on and download the MySejahtera application, ” he said.
