Investigation of suspect in Unduk Ngadau sexual harrassment complete

KOTA KINABALU: Investigation of the suspect in the sexual harassment case involving an Unduk Ngadau contestant has been completed.

Sabah police commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali said the result of the investigations was submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers today for further instructions.

He said the probe was completed with 12 people being called to assist in the investigations.

“A total of 12 individuals were questioned including the Unduk Ngadau participant and an Australian man who worked with the politician involved in the case.

“The remand of the politician involved also ended yesterday and we now wait further action and instruction from the Attorney-General’s Chambers for prosecution,” he said when contacted today.

Hazani said the investigation was conducted in accordance with Section 354 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of 10 years or a fine or whipping, or with any two of the punishments.

The politician was arrested by the police on June 3 to assist in the investigation following a police report lodged from one of the Unduk Ngadau participants who claimed to have been molested by the suspect.

The suspect allegedly committed the offence while inviting the victim to dinner, after filming at one of the bridal boutiques in Asia City.-NST
