State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Majid Mohd Ali said his men made a breakthrough to disband the syndicate with the arrest of six key members – including two Indonesians – in a series of raids here, last week.

“The raids were conducted by Melaka police with reinforcement from Bukit Aman,” he said during a press conference here on Monday (Jan 25).

DCP Majid said those detained were aged from 32 to 49.

He said the first arrest was made at Batang Tiga before the subsequent detentions were made at Klebang, Cheng and Ujong Pasir here.

“Four cars, two motorcycles and a speedboat were among the items confiscated,” he said, adding that the two foreigners from Tanjung Rupat, Indonesia, had illegally trespassed the maritime border, allegedly transporting the drugs.

“We believe the substances were meant for the international market and Melaka was the transit point,” he said.- The Star
