Intan Nurulhaleda Mohd Yunus, 26, who is four months pregnant, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Farah Nasihah Annuar to all of them.

Intan Nurulhaleda, and another man yet to be charged, namely her husband, are alleged to have cheated four individuals, namely engineer Siti Nur Farahain Zainol, 30, insurance seller Azmadi Anwar Ahmad, 37, public relations officer Mohd Syamil Mohd Yusoff, 51, and account officer Nur Azneen Hanis Apili, 27.

They are accused of deceiving the four into depositing a total of RM2,676 into a Maybank account in the name of I&I Paradise Venture company via online transfer for non-existent tour packages.

The offences, under Section 420 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, whipping and a fine, were allegedly committed in Taman Melawati, Medan Selera Taman Bukit Indah, Kondominum Bella Vista and Taman Sri Keramat respectively between May 20 and Aug 15 this year.

Intan Nurulhaleda also faced four more counts under Section 5 (1) of the Tourism Industry Act 1992 with offering the packages to the same four victims without a valid licence at the same time and place.

In pleading for a lesser bail amount, Intan Nurulhaleda’s lawyer Mohd Fikah Sanusi said his client was not only jobless at the moment, she was also four months pregnant and is currently staying with family members while her husband was being held under remand at the Sungai Buloh prison.

“My client is not a flight risk and she has also cooperated with the police throughout the case investigation,” Mohd Fikah said.

The court fixed bail at RM16,400 with one surety for all of the charges and set Dec 4 as mention of the case.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that Intan Nurulhaleda’s husband could not be produced in court today due to the ongoing Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which bars inter-district crossings.

On Oct 9, Intan Nurulhaleda and her husband, Muhammad Iqbal Mohd Sani, 27, pleaded not guilty at the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court to 39 counts of the same charge involving RM10,454. – BERNAMA
