PETALING JAYA: The home ministry and its agencies have ordered 63 factories to close down since Monday as part of enforcement activities during the total lockdown.

They inspected 7,387 factories and 41,383 business premises, resulting in 21 arrests and 201 compound notices being issued.

“The ministry takes seriously the actions of employers or factories who provide false information to obtain permission to operate during the MCO lockdown period and ignore compliance with SOPs,” its minister, Hamzah Zainudin, said in a statement.

“Enforcement actions by the SOP compliance team will be further intensified to ensure that the spread of Covid-19 among manufacturing clusters can be curbed.”

Hamzah also said almost 91% of the ministry’s frontline personnel have received a vaccine dose as of Wednesday.

He said 80%, or 133,781 individuals, from the ministry’s frontline staff have also received their second dose.-FMT
