PETALING JAYA: The government has withdrawn its appeal against a High Court decision which allowed the word “Allah”, amongst others, to be used by non-Muslims in publications for educational purposes.
The notice to withdraw the appeal was filed by the Attorney General’s Chambers on April 18.
Senior Federal counsel Shamsul Bothassan confirmed the matter when contacted by the media.
He said the withdrawal notice had been recorded at the Court of Appeal.
According to the notice, both parties wished to discontinue the appeal, which was filed on March 21, 2021.
Following this, the entire appeal was discontinued without costs. – The Star
