Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, recently stated that the search engine will soon be able to answer more complex questions. The idea is to keep pace with the new generation of search engines powered by artificial intelligence.

Sundar Pichai said that the famous search engine will undergo profound change in 2025, while speaking at the DealBook summit organised by the New York Times.

“When I look at what’s coming ahead, we are in the earliest stages of a profound shift … I just think there’s so much innovation ahead. We are committed to being at the state of the art in this field, and I think we are,” the Google CEO said.

In any case, Google has no choice but to adapt in order not to be overtaken, in terms of effectiveness, by the AI-powered alternative search engines that have recently started to appear, such as Perplexity and You.com. For its part, Microsoft has also considerably improved Bing by integrating its Copilot intelligent agent, in partnership with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.

But Google is also being challenged by OpenAI, which recently integrated a new intelligent web search function into ChatGPT. This feature is now available to paying subscribers, and will soon be available to everyone.

As if that weren’t enough, Google’s search engine must also comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), the European regulation that aims to curb the power of large online platforms and promote fair competition in the digital marketplace.

Google recently announced that it has already made more than 20 changes to its search engine, including the introduction of dedicated formats to showcase, free of charge, comparison sites in areas such as flights, hotels and shopping.
