GEORGE TOWN: A female secondary school student died after falling from her school building in Jelutong here on Monday (Nov 18) afternoon, Malay language daily Sinar Harian reports.
Northeast OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the 14-year-old victim, aged 14, was confirmed dead at the scene after falling from the eighth floor of the school.
According to him, the police received a report on the incident from a medical officer at Penang Hospital at 5.57pm.
“We received a report about a Form Two female student who died after falling from a school building here.
“Investigations at the scene and on the victim’s body found no criminal elements in this case,” he said in a media statement on Tuesday (Nov 19).
He added that the police have classified the case as sudden death.
“A sudden death report has been opened to conduct further investigations into this case.
“In this regard, the public are advised not to make any speculations about this case that could affect police investigations,” he said.
ACP Abdul Rozak also urged the public not to share photos or videos of the scene out of respect for the victim’s family.
