KUALA NERUS: Peninsula east coast states have recorded the lowest percentage of registration for vaccination against Covid-19, deputy science minister Ahmad Amzad Hashim said here.

He said Kelantan had the lowest number of registrations with only 11.8% of the state’s population recorded through the MySejahtera smartphone app. “Terengganu and Pahang only recorded 16.3% and 17.1% of the states’ population respectively,” he said.

“Hence, I am a little worried because the registration (of the vaccine) is relatively low on the east coast compared with other regions such as Putrajaya, which recorded a total registration of 70%,” he said after attending a university function here.

He said a total of 5.53 million Malaysian or 22.8% of the population had registered for vaccination.

He urged government agencies, local authorities and state governments, especially on the east coast, to mobilise the village committees to help residents register for the vaccine.- BERNAMA
