Doctor on call assistance for flood victims in Pahang

Kuala Lumpur. 19 Jan 2021- Pahang has been severely affected by heavy rains recently and is among the worst hit by floods in Peninsular Malaysia.

DoctorOnCall, Malaysia’s first and largest digital health platform, has reached out to help ease the burden of those affected with free telecommunication services along with basic medical and hygiene assistance kits managed through a network of doctors and their pharmacy partners.

This program is part of DoctorOnCall’s initiative in playing its role as a responsible organization in community development.

Hazwan Najib, Director & Co-Founder of DoctorOnCall commented “DoctorOnCall extends our hand to ensure the health of flood victims is well maintained, as some of them may suffer from flood-related health conditions such as diarrhea, food poisoning some of them have chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems.

Victims may lose their medical records, medical cards and medicines during the flood and need immediate medical help.

With our free telemedicine service for flood victims, they can contact and get advice from the doctors registered in our network “.

This initiative which has been officially running for 2 months in Temerloh includes free medicines given to patients based on the prescription and discretion of the doctor depending on the patient’s condition.

The close collaboration between DoctorOnCall and its pharmaceutical partners has enabled this initiative to run smoothly.

To date, reports show that the number of flood victims in excess of 20,000 people across Pahang last week has decreased to 7,012 people from 1,923 families sheltering in 92 evacuation centers across the state.

“Further in a pandemic environment, the probability of the situation becoming out of control is always there. With DoctorOnCall’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, we hope our efforts to some extent can have a positive impact on those in need”, added Hazwan.

This program is held in the spirit of volunteerism and togetherness with the cooperation of various parties such as Pahang State Government Volunteers including the District Office and District Council, Pahang Social Action Council (MTSP) and Pahang Disaster Squad.- BERNAMA
