PETALING JAYA: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has assured borrowers that the process to apply to postpone their loan repayment will be smooth and easy.
Under the RM15bil Perlindungan Ekonomi dan Rakyat Malaysia (Permai) assistance package, PTPTN borrowers affected by the flood have been allowed to defer repaying their study loans.
The deferral will be given for a period of three months starting in the same month the approval is given and an additional two months between January and May 2021.
PTPTN chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan said he has requested all PTPTN officers ensure that the process of applying for this postponement is conducted effectively and easily for the people.
“We do not want excessive bureaucracy in implementing this assistance programme, ” he said in a statement by the corporation on Wednesday (Jan 20).
PTPTN chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid said these borrowers can also use the online facilities so that they do not have to go to the branches to apply for the deferral.
Those who want to apply can also do so via PTPTN’s official portal at www.ptptn.gov.my/PelanjutanBayaranBalikCovid19 until March 31.
No supporting documents are needed when making the applications.
Borrowers will be notified via email within three working days the application is submitted.
They are reminded to update their contact information to ensure they receive details on their application.
