PETALING JAYA: There were 3,027 new cases recorded on Thursday (Jan 7) bringing the total number of cases to 128,465.
In a statement, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new cases, 3,021 were local cases while another six were imported.
Eight deaths were also reported bringing the death toll to 521.
The figures, which were posted on Facebook, showed the country’s total confirmed cases is now 128,456.
The country also discharged a cumulative total of 102,723 patients, with 2,145 new recoveries.
The number of people with active Covid-19 infections in Malaysia has gone up to 25,724.
Currently, 142 patients are in intensive care, with 63 requiring ventilator support.
Dr Noor Hisham said six cases on Thursday were imported infections, while the remaining 3,021 were local transmissions.– The Star
