KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s daily Covid-19 infections increased to 2,340 cases yesterday, compared to Tuesday’s 2,144.
The CovidNow portal reported that Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 infections at 537 followed by Selangor at 492 and 260 cases in Perak.
As of Aug 31, a total 4,744,543 people in the country had been infected with the coronavirus since it hit the country two years ago.
The portal also reported 2,502 recoveries and six deaths, bringing the respective tolls to 4,715,417 and 36,216 as of yesterday.
The six fatalities including one brought-in-dead were recorded in Penang and Kuala Lumpur with two fatalities each, and one in Kedah and Selangor respectively.
Active cases continued to reduce to 30,991 yesterday compared to Tuesday’s 31,159 cases.
From that, 95.5 per cent or 29,604 Covid-19 patients are undergoing home quarantine, 1,301 are hospitalised, and 17 cases isolated at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres.
Of the 69 patients treated at the intensive care units (ICU), 42 needed ventilator support.
As of yesterday, Selangor recorded the highest number of hospital admissions at 91 cases followed by 62 cases in Sabah and Perak at 46 cases.
There are no new clusters reported by the portal while there were 31 active clusters in the country as of yesterday.–The Star
