The victim and a friend were walking to work at Section 25 when he was abducted by four men in a red Proton Saga at about 7am on Nov 14.

The victim’s friend managed to escape and inform a colleague, who then reported the matter to the police.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said a team of officers from the Shah Alam Serious Crimes (D9) unit managed to track down the suspects and rescued the victim less than two hour after the abduction.

“During the rescue attempt, one of the suspects tried to ram police personnel using the Proton Saga. However, police fired three shots at the vehicle’s back tyres and managed to stop them.

“Four local men were detained while the victim was rescued,” he told a press conference on Friday (Nov 22).

ACP Baharudin said that the police used minimal force in their attempt to subdue the suspects.

“The suspects have been remanded. We are investigating under Section 323 of the Penal Code for assault and Section 365 of the same code for abduction,” he added.

In another case, two men were detained for stealing from a mosque’s donation box in Section 18, Shah Alam.

ACP Baharudin said the mosque committee members managed to apprehend the suspects aged 27 and 39 during the incident last week.

“They were then handed over to the police. We seized a motorcycle bearing fake number plates, pliers, metal strings and glue as well as RM151 cash,” he said, adding that both suspects’ urine samples tested negative for drugs.

However, the 39-year-old suspect had past records for drug-related offences, ACP Baharudin said. -The Star
