PETALING JAYA: The works ministry today announced that Covid-19 vaccines will be provided for 40,000 workers in the construction sector at a subsidised cost of RM90 per worker.
Works minister Fadillah Yusof said that the vaccination programme, which will be rolled out in Kuala Lumpur on June 30 and in Selangor on July 14, will be coordinated by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).
The programme, approved by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), will see the construction industry provide and fund a task force, certified medical officers as well as vaccination centres (PPVs).
Fadillah said that there is a RM140 vaccination charge per person for two complete doses of the vaccine, with CIDB providing a RM50 subsidy for each employee and also offering their premises as PPVs for free.
“This means that employers in the construction sector only have to pay RM90 for each vaccinated worker,” he said in a statement.
Fadillah said participation in the programme is voluntary, with construction industry players able to choose their own vaccination programme for their employees by dealing directly with CITF.
Asked for clarification about the programme’s cost, a CIDB official explained that under the economic frontliner programme, vaccines are still provided free by the government but other costs such as management, venue and logistics are to be borne by the private sector.
“In this particular case, we have included everything in the RM90 charge, which covers the cost of administration, management, qualified medical personnel, among others,” he said.
Those who wish to enrol their employees in this vaccination programme may do so from Monday by visiting http://vaccine.cidblink.com or calling 03-40428880.-FMT
