Kuala Lumpur, 6 April 2021 (The Capital Post)- The Federal Territory MIC Youth urged the cooperation of all parties involved to resolve the issue of the temple at Segambut.
An entourage of MIC members had gathered at the grounds of Om Sri Maha Kakkum Madurai Veeran temple in Segambut yesterday to show a symbol of solidarity with the temple management that was to face demolition based on the notice addressed to them by the developer.
The management of the temple succeeded in obtaining a court order to postpone the demolition for 7 days effective today.
In the meantime, S.Arumugam who is also Federal Territory MIC Youth chief, criticized the facts of certain individuals who tried to aggravate MIC’s efforts in curbing the demolition of this temple by spreading baseless defamation against the party.
“The MIC’s intervention in the demolition issue of the temple is to assist in the process of negotiating to achieve a peaceful and good solution for all parties. Although the court has given the order of deferring demolition, it is only valid for only seven days and immediate negotiations with the parties involved should be accelerated to find a solution, “he said.
He further added, “We are not a ‘keyboard Warriors’ who just sits on a seat every day while drinking coffee and commenting on social media without going down to the field to find out the real issue. On the contrary, we urge the relevant parties and NGOs to work together with us in addressing this issue”.
The entourage led by Datuk N.Sivakumar, Federal Territory MIC Deputy Chairman and Temple Trustee of Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam together with AK Ramalingam, National MIC Secretary has been discussing with temple management to examine the next steps in order to find the ultimate settlement for the temple.
Datuk S.Rajah, a member of the DBKL Advisory Board, who is also the Federal Territory MIC chairman, is determined to bring its proposal for the ‘ground beat’ of the Land and Mines office to be coordinated with the DBKL development order, during the DBKL Advisory Board meeting.
According to him, this will avoid the easy way taken by the developer who only requires a court order to demolish the temple.- The Capital Post
