KUALA LUMPUR: Strengthening work to prevent further soil movement in the area affected by a landslide along Persiaran Tunku Syed Sirajuddin is underway, says Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai.

ACP Beh said that piling would be done as a temporary measure to enhance the soil structure.

“Work is being done to cover the exposed land with tarpaulin sheets. However, this is not enough as minor landslides continue to be detected since 10pm on Tuesday (April 25).

Speaking after a site visit on Wednesday (April 26), ACP Beh said a meeting would be held to discuss more remedial measures involving the Public Works Department, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Mineral and Geoscience Department.

At press time, Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh was spotted visiting the site.

On Tuesday, the road leading to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (Maca) complex in Persiaran Tunku Syed Sirajuddin collapsed due to a landslide.

Initial investigation pointed to two possible causes – stagnant water due to a burst pipe and continuous heavy rain over the last few days.

A guard post near the area’s entrance was destroyed, and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had said that the building would remain off limits until further notice. – The Star
