KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said today his ministry would have no problems working with China or other countries to bring back fugitive Low Taek Jho once his location is known.

However, he said, it was not known if Low, commonly known as Jho Low, was in China.

“If police inform Wisma Putra of his location, there is no reason why we cannot help in bringing him back to face justice,” Hishammuddin said at the Dewan Rakyat.

He was replying to a question from RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong), who asked what action had been taken to locate Low, the alleged mastermind in the 1MDB scandal. Rayer noted that Malaysia and China enjoyed good relations.

In August, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador had said the Macau authorities must take note of Interpol’s red notice to locate and arrest Low, who was believed to have been there then.

He said Low was found to have conducted several business transactions in Macau.

“We sent our officers to Macau to meet the authorities there and asked for their cooperation,” Hamid was quoted as saying, but they had not been cooperative.-FMT
