LANGKAWI: Police barred two female tourists from entering Langkawi for having incomplete Covid-19 vaccination certificates.

The tourists, aged 32 and 35, were checked on arrival at the Kuah Ferry Terminal at about noon on Sunday.

Langkawi district police chief, Assistant Commisioner Shariman Ashari said the duo boarded the ferry at Kuala Perlis for a holiday in Langkawi.

“Checks at the Kuah Ferry Terminal found they have received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“However, they have yet to be certified fully vaccinated, they are three days short of the 14-day period required after getting their second dose,” he said in a statement today.

Both the women were referred to healthcare officers at the scene to verify their vaccination status.

They were then turned back to Kuala Perlis via a vehicle and passenger ferry from the Tanjung Lembung pier at 2pm yesterday.

He said the two were not slapped with any compounds for breaching standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Langkawi travel bubble project.

“It has been five days since the travel bubble SOP compliance observation started but no one has been issued with compounds yet.

“However, we would like to remind those entering the island to continue observing the SOP fixed by the National Security Council (NSC) to avoid action being taken,” he said. -NST
