LIPIS: Two staff members from Limau Purut National School (SK) died after the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry at Kilometer 15, Jalan Lipis-Jerantut, near Kampung Jeram Bungor on Tuesday (Nov 19).
Kuala Lipis district police chief Supt Ismail Man said the incident happened at about 2.30pm, reported Sinar Harian.
According to him, the car’s driver, Nurshida Md Najib, 28, from Pekan and passenger, Nurulfarhana Yahaya, 31, from Jerantut, were confirmed dead at the scene. Both worked as administrative assistants.
“Further investigation found that a lorry was from Gua Musang, Kelantan.
“The car the two women were riding in was travelling from SK Limau Purut to the Lipis District Education Office for work purposes,” he said.
He said when he arrived at the scene, the two vehicles collided head-on, causing the two victims to die at the scene.
He explained that the 31-year-old lorry driver was injured in his left rib, while his cousin, a 33-year-old man, was taken to Kuala Lipis Hospital for further treatment.
He said the case was investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
“We request that any individual who has information about the incident contact the Lipis IPD Operations Room at 09-312 1999 or any nearby police station,” he added.
