KEPALA BATAS: Former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who currently resides in Kuala Lumpur, will likely come back to cast his vote in the Bertam state seat in the Penang state polls on Aug 12.

This was confirmed by Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

“This will depend on his health. God-willing he will cast his vote together with his wife Tun Jeanne Abdullah. I will also check with Tun Jeanne if Pak Lah’s health allows him to cast his vote,” said Reezal Merican

“I am sure he will not miss it,” he added when met here at a programme on Wednesday (July 2).

Abdullah, 83, served as the fifth Prime Minister from 2003 to 2009.

The Bertam state seat falls under the Kepala Batas Parliamentary constituency, and Abdullah had been its MP from 1978 to 2013.

Another figure that will come to vote at the Bertam seat is former Penang governor Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas.

“So based on the normal convention of previous elections, they will all come to vote here,” added Rizal.

Previously, Pak Lah’s son-in-law, former minister Khairy Jamaluddin had revealed that he was suffering from dementia.
