SPM 2022: Straight ‘A+’s for 19 candidates in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: A total of 19 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2022 candidates from Penang achieved A+ in all the subjects that they had taken.

State Education director Abdul Rashid Abdul Samad said four students scored 11 A+, eleven students scored 10 A+ and another four students scored 9 A+.

“The overall the number of candidates who got a combination of A+, A and A- in all their subjects was 688 compared to 666 in 2021,” he said during the announcement of SPM 2022 results at Penang Free School on Thursday (June 8).

He said the National Average Grade (GPN) for Penang candidates in SPM 2022 was 4.60 compare to 4.77 in 2021.

A lower GPN score indicates better candidate achievement.

He said a total of 19,499 candidates sat for the SPM 2022, including 17,692 candidates from government secondary schools, 165 candidates from private schools, 1,013 private candidates, 240 religious school candidates and 389 MRSM candidates.

He said a total of 15,479 students or 90.21% of the 17,692 SPM candidates from schools under the Education Ministry were eligible to receive SPM certificates.

Based on the School Average Grade (GPS), SMKA Al-Irshad was the best school with a GPS of 1.97.

The SPM 2022 exam ran from Jan 30 to March 15, 2023, while candidates who were affected by Covid-19 during this period were allowed to take their exams from Marchh 16 to 22.

Candidates can access their results online at myresultspm.moe.gov.my or via short message service (SMS) from 10am onwards.
