KUALA LUMPUR: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM 2020) leavers who wish to update their applications for programmes at public tertiary education institutions via UPUOnline can do so starting June 15.
The Higher Education Ministry (MoHE) in a statement today said the UPUOnline Update Phase will be opened for seven days, starting at noon on June 15 to 5pm on June 21.
“This will give opportunities to SPM 2020 leavers, especially those in the rural areas, who had applied during the Application Phase to update their programmes according to their examination results, which were announced today.”
MoHE said applicants can update their programmes based on their SPM results, except for programmes that have been called for interviews and/or tests.
“The status of their applications for Academic Session 2021/2022 is expected to be out in the third week of July.”
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the UPUOnline Update Phase, the ministry with cooperation from its strategic partner; Universiti Malaya, will organise Jom Masuk IPT Virtual 2021 (JMIPT Virtual 2021) to ensure the delivery of information related to higher education is not affected by Covid-19.
The programme involves participation from all public universities, polytechnics, community colleges, skills training institutes, Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), and MoHE’s Scholarship Division.
The programme will be divided into two-phases, with Phase One (June 15 to 21) for SPM leavers, and Phase Two (Aug 8 to 12) for Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) holders or its equivalent.
“JMIPT Virtual 2021 provides 29 webinar slots and ‘live chat’ sessions, along with group and individual consultations by virtual exhibitors.
“As such, the ministry would like to invite all parties, especially applicants, parents, guardians, counselling teachers, and the public to participate in the JMIPT Virtual 2021 programme,” the statement read.
