BUKIT MERTAJAM, Dec 3 — Several departments at the Menara Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) in Perda here and the MBSP Landscape Department in Kampung Jawa, Butterworth near here have been completely closed to facilitate thorough sanitisation works.

MBSP Mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said this was following a local authority staff testing positive for COVID-19, besides all employees and officers who were in close contact with the patient have been instructed to work from home.

“MBSP informed that one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19 and from Nov 18 to Dec 2, the staff only came once to the office at Menara MBSP on 25 Nov. The staff was admitted to the hospital on Dec 1 and confirmed positive the next day, that is yesterday.

“We are taking immediate action and the public is advised not to worry because MBSP operations at centralised counters are running as usual but they are encouraged to make payments and other MBSP services online at the website www.mbsp.gov.my,” he said in statement today.

He said the public could also follow the latest developments on MBSP through its Facebook to get the latest information and they were also asked not to panic as the situation was under control and in compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set. – BERNAMA
