KUALA LUMPUR: The toll charge for motorists using the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah bridge (JSAHMS) will be reduced from RM8.50 to RM7 beginning Jan 1.
Works Minister Baru Bian said the reduction is part of a standardisation of toll charges for Class 1 private vehicles, in line with the announcement made by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng during the tabling of Budget 2020 on Oct 11.
Baru said the move is proof that the government is constantly formulating ways to ease the cost of living for the rakyat.
“This toll standardisation… is expected to reduce congestion at the First Penang Bridge, and users who are headed to the island will switch to JSAHMS for a smoother, more comfortable and safer drive,” he said in a statement, today. -NST
