MELAKA: A 19-year-old restaurant helper claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here to a charge of murdering a newborn boy.
However, no plea was recorded from Ahmad Shamil Ashraf Zainudin before magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Noh on Wednesday(April 8).
Ahmad Shamil is accused of committing the offence of murdering the newborn delivered by his 18-year-old girlfriend Farah Najwa Ab Rahman by abandoning the baby in bushes close to the Islam Ahmadiah Nursery Center at a time between 12.01am to 10.30pm on March 29.
If found guilty of the charge of murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, the accused faces the mandatory death sentence.
On March 29, the lifeless body of a baby was discovered in bushes at Telok Mas.
The police arrested the teenager when he brought his girlfriend for treatment at the Melaka Hospital on the same day.- The Star
